Now that you have decided to become part of our school, the following steps will help you navigate through the application process.
There are only 5 steps you will need to do to become a successful student at Lumos Language School. Please take your time to read all 5 steps carefully and understand which documents are required and which fees you must pay to complete your application process.
Submitting your application to Lumos Language School
To submit your application, you will need to have the following documents scanned in your computer:
– Valid Passport for all applicants (Student F1 and the F2 dependents).
– Proof of Financial Ability (bank statement needs to show that you have or the person who is sponsoring you has $6,760 (US$) in the bank, plus $2,000 (US$) for each dependent.
– COMPLETE your application form on Lumos website: https://apply.lumos.edu
There is a $50 (US$) application fee to be paid when you submit your application. If the school needs to mail your documents, an additional invoice will be sent to your email address ($80 to $100) paid by credit card only.
After receiving your application, the school will prepare for each applicant an I-20 document (each person on your application will receive an I-20) The I-20 is a Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status for Academic and Language Students. The student is required to have it before applying for a Student visa.
The mailing service provider is DHL, and the school will not send your documents if the mailing fee amount has not been paid.
The processing time for preparing the documents and receiving them at your address is up to 15 business days (delivery times may vary according to DHL).
Paying the SEVIS Fee
After receiving the I-20 document at your address, you must pay the SEVIS application fee to the US government at https://www.fmjfee.com.
Only the F1 student is required to pay this fee, your dependents (F2) do not pay.
Payment must be done online.
DS-160 application and interview
Go to the official U.S. VISA information and appointment services website: https://ais.usvisa-info.com
Follow the steps for filling out the DS-160 form and scheduling the interview appointment with the U.S Embassy or Consulate of your convenience.
On the website, select Nonimmigrant Visa Applicant, then chose your country and preferable language, and complete the application for the DS-160.
This process will need to be repeated for all your dependents.
After you go through the visa interview and your visa is approved, you will receive your passport on your mailing address (the same address you have provided while completing the DS-160 application form).
Please notify the school the results of you interview, that is, if your VISA was approved or denied so we can tell you what the next steps are.

SEVIS FEE: $350 (only F1 pays)
DS-160 Visa Processing Fee: $160 (per each applicant)
